Inside GuruLab: Call Center Simulation Software Results

A home services program changed one thing in its new-hire training: agents practiced with GuruLab instead of dedicated role-play time across all three weeks of training. In the next production wave, the program’s Special Ops line-of-business conversion rate rose 19.7%. QA scores climbed roughly 9%.

For operations leaders evaluating call center simulation software, the question is: what changes once agents take live calls? This post walks through how GuruLab works inside The Office Gurus’ production wave and what it has delivered across four client programs.

Meet GuruLab: Practice That Feels Like the Real Call

GuruLab is The Office Gurus‘ AI simulation training capability. Agents practice AI-simulated customer calls before they go live and between live shifts. Each simulation reflects what agents will face on their account: the objections, the pacing, and the pressure of a customer who needs an answer now.

GuruLab is one of five connected capabilities in Guru iX, the AI-enabled system The Office Gurus built to make agents better, not obsolete. GuruLab prepares agents before the call. The other four capabilities cover real-time guidance, automation of repetitive tasks, full interaction QA, and performance data.

Inside a Production Wave: From Real Calls to Scored Practice

GuruLab runs inside the training curriculum, not beside it. The home services program shows how the pieces fit together.

  • Scenarios built from real call types: the team built six core customer scenarios at three difficulty levels, for 18 simulations in total. Each one targeted the skills the program needed most, including objection handling, empathy, probing questions, and sales pitching.
  • Practice in the production environment: agents worked inside the actual production interface, not a generic training screen. System navigation became part of the practice.
  • Scored attempts with immediate feedback: every simulation returns a score and feedback, so agents know what to repeat and what to fix. The class completed 361 simulation attempts.
  • Coaching in real time: team Leads saw each agent’s simulation performance as it happened. They used it in one-on-one coaching right away, before gaps could surface on live calls.

Four Programs, Four Measurable Gains

Each result below compares a GuruLab-trained wave with earlier waves on the same account. Each program tracked the KPIs that matter most to its operation.

Industry sectorComparisonResults with GuruLab
Home servicesWave 36 vs. Wave 35Conversion rate (Special Ops) up 19.7%. QA score (Special Ops) up roughly 9%. Sales per hour rose from 25.0% to 47.5%, clearing a 40% goal.
Cruise line (travel and hospitality)Waves 12–13 (~160 agents) vs. Waves 9–11 (~98 agents, no simulations)Handle time down 4.9% across the full ramp. Weeks 1–2 improved 11%, from 17:43 to 15:46. An estimated 1,600 minutes of call capacity recovered daily.
Real estate marketplaceGuruLab wave vs. prior wave, first two months in productionAgents hitting all four KPI targets in Month 1 rose from 53.1% to 74.3%. Month 2: call transfer rate 82.3% (goal 76%) QA: 99.3% (goal 95%) voice AHT: 93.51s (goal 190s) SMS AHT: 139.6s (goal 170s).
Warranty and protection programWaves 13–16 vs. a Waves 10–12 baselineConversion rose from 15.6% to 19.3% a 23.7% relative lift (+3.7 points), with 25 simulations across 5 classes.

Where the goal is revenue, conversion moved: both the home services and warranty programs lifted conversion. In home services, sales per hour went from 15 points under goal to 7.5 points over it, peaking at 52% in Week 3 of production.

Where the goal is efficiency, gains came early: the cruise line’s sharpest handle-time improvement came in the first two weeks of the ramp.

Where the goal is speed to proficiency, more agents arrived ready: in the real estate program, 74.3% of the GuruLab-trained class hit all four production targets in their first month. By Month 2, the class was clearing every client goal, with voice AHT 8.3% faster than the prior wave.

More Coaching, Earlier Signals: What Changes for Trainers and Supervisors

Traditional role-play reaches one trainee at a time. GuruLab lets an entire class practice at once, as often as needed. That shifts the trainer’s role. Instead of playing the customer, trainers spend their time coaching the agents who need it most.

Team leads and supervisors also gain earlier visibility. Simulation scores show where an agent is struggling before a live customer does. Coaching starts in training, not after a difficult first week on the phones.

The loop runs the other way too. QA findings from live calls become targeted simulations for tenured agents. A QA deduction turns into a practiced fix instead of a note on a coaching form. And when a class is ready to go live, readiness is confirmed with objective data, not only a trainer’s judgment.

Proven in Production, Not in a Demo

Many tools can simulate a customer call. The results above come from something harder to replicate: how The Office Gurus operates simulation inside a live client program.

Every scenario starts from the account’s real call types. In the home services program, Operations Team Leads piloted simulations to validate realism and difficulty before the class ever saw them. Results are measured wave over wave, against the prior class and the client’s own goals, using the same KPI definitions. GuruLab also runs inside dedicated teams trained for each client account, so what agents practice matches the program they support.

That is the lens to bring to any evaluation of call center simulation software. The real test is whether practice shows up in production numbers.

What CX Leaders Ask About AI Simulation Training

What is GuruLab?

GuruLab is The Office Gurus’ AI simulation training capability and part of Guru iX. The Office Gurus uses it to prepare agents on dedicated client teams through scenario-based practice built from real call types, with scored attempts and coaching before and during production.

What is AI simulation training for call centers?

AI simulation training lets agents practice realistic customer conversations with an AI-simulated customer, before and between live calls. Scenarios reflect real call types, and the system scores every attempt. Agents build skill and confidence through repetition instead of learning on live customers.

What is call center simulation software?

Call center simulation software creates practice interactions that mirror real customer calls, then scores agent performance and flags skill gaps. Its value depends on how it is used: scenarios built from actual call types, aligned to QA criteria, and connected to coaching.

How does AI role-play training improve agent performance?

AI role-play gives every agent repeated, structured practice with immediate feedback. It also gives Team Leads performance data to coach from. In one TOG home services program, replacing dedicated role-play time with GuruLab simulations lifted conversion by 19.7% in the next production wave.

Does AI simulation training replace trainers?

No. AI simulation replaces the time trainers spend playing the customer in one-on-one role-play. Trainers and Team Leads use simulation results to focus coaching where it is needed most, which keeps people at the center of agent development.
